So you're getting married, how freaking exciting! You've booked your venue, your glam squad, and even got your dress. Yay you! You're absolutely killing it. You have some ideas you're entertaining for your look but ultimately, you need to talk to your artist. We get it, you may be confused and need to ask your beauty professional for some advice & opinions. If you don't want a trial I still love you no worries. But if you do you're in the right place. Here are a few ways to ensure your wedding makeup trial is as successful as possible!
"...But, how do I know what I want?"
First, let's start off by understanding that there are different levels/styles to make-up. Knowing the amount of glam you are comfortable with is so important and will help you and your artist be on the same page!
*GENERALIZED EXAMPLES
Bring Inspo Photos It’s important that when we meet for your trial we both know the look you’re wanting.
Sometimes a brides explanation of a natural glam, is actually a full on high glam. Bring at least 2-3 cohesive photos. This will help speed up the process & avoid any confusion. Keep in mind makeup translates differently on camera.
Photo session
This is a great time to get to know your photographer and really see how the glam translates on camera. Book a photoshoot the day of your trial.
Make plans to go out If one more bride comes to a trial & tells me that they have no plans to wear this amazing hair and makeup we slaved for, I will lose my mind. Be beautiful and accept the compliments. Ask a stranger what they think of your look.
Wear your makeup as long as you can Don't be afraid to go home and show your fiancé your glam. We LOVE their feedback.
Get feedback
Hopefully, you made plans with your best gals and ask the one's who REALLY know you best their honest opinion. Careful, don't ask the one's who give TOO much of an opinion. It's what YOU want. A little guidance won’t hurt.
Give honest feedback It may take a few tries of doing someones makeup before getting it just right. If you can start building an artistic relationship with your glam team, I'd highly recommend getting your glam done a few times before your wedding. I like to think of it as a collaboration. You won't hurt our feelings if you want some tweaking. We want you to be happy. If you're not happy, we're not happy. Feedback is everything.
Keep an open mind We are invested in your look & the duration of how long it'll look good for. We know you love that ultra dewy finish, but if you're prone to sweat we may suggest a little more of a matte finish for your t-zone.
Skin Prep This part is the most crucial. Make sure your skin is prepped & your facial hair is in check. Brow artists and personal hygiene/grooming are a separate thing, so pluck or wax before you arrive. Exfoliate & moisturize before you arrive. We may be able to do good work but we need your help as well. Proper skin care is super important for brides in order to ensure makeup goes on smoothly day of & at your makeup trial.
If you're unsure about skin related stuff, see an esthetician so they can give you professional advice.
This is where the magic happens Now that you've had your trial, it’s time to make your ultimate wedding vision come to life.
